I wanted to give this a proper test, so I took it to work and compared it side by side with an older Tek 350MHz scope while trying to troubleshoot some circuit issues.

This scope performed almost as well as the much more expensive scope, with the added bonus that it's battery powered and doesn't need a power cord (when charged up), so it was portable and easier to use when at the top of a ladder! When used to measure the squarewave output of an optical encoder, it did an acceptable job of showing the waveform, and also showed reflections on the data lines. The more expensive scope did show these jitters and reflections more frequently and clearly, but overall this mini scope worked very well! The autoset worked great, and after some digging through the menus, I was able to fine tune the settings manually. I will say that the touch screen is a bit tough to use if you have big fingers. At least one physical button or adjustment knob would have made some of the adjustments a bit easier, especially when trying to adjust marker positions. The screen resolution is quite crisp, so measurements can be made with high precision.

I did not test the spectrum analyzer function, but I'd imagine it'll work well enough if used within spec. It is limited to channel 1 input, which is fine. I also did not test the frequency response function, but it also seems to be full featured. The signal generator is pretty accurate, and is capable of generating a whole bunch of waveform shapes.

The battery lasted for a full day of off and on measurements, and still had life left at the end of the day. It can also be run off the USB-C charger if you need power beyond the battery life.

The scope is durable and sturdy, so I'd have no issue throwing this in my backpack if I had to climb or work at heights. The included case keeps things nice and secure, and holds all the accessories. This keeps everything together and available. However, I'd imagine this unit is probably not calibratable, so using it in a professional environment might not be an option if you require calibrated test equipment. However, this would be perfect for a home lab setup! The manual is also very good and offers lots of nuggets of information. It's worth a read.

It should be noted that the inputs are 1Meg ohm only. If you need to measure RF with this scope, you'll need to terminate the connection in the proper impedance in parallel with this scope.

If I could make one improvement, it would be to add an external trigger port to this scope. If you want to trigger off an external source, you can program the trigger to one of the 2 existing channels, but then you reduce the number of measurement channels to 1. Having a dedicated trigger port would make this scope slightly more usable.

As for charging — it’s special. My cheapo chargers don't charge it, and cheap A-to-C cables don't work either.
But nearly all my good-brand chargers (and power banks) do charge it, and 4 different brands of A-to-C cables that were high-end (one from my box of SSD enclosure cables) work just fine too. So, not proprietary, just special :)

Attached are pics of the INIU charger + Sabrent cable, charging it just fine.

I queried the included charger with my USB analyzer, and it supports full variable output QC 3.0 12 V+, so that's what you're looking for if you need to replace it.

TOP marks for this o-scope + all the extra features it has. And the size! I love it 😊

I'm an electrical engineering professor and have worked with scopes from $100 to $100k. This is an amazing device with a lot of bang for the buck, but a lot seems to be copied from Tektronix ("DPO" or color-graded, I think they have a patent). But overall great for students and folks on a budget. I don't like debugging designs for such vendors, but the BIG gotcha is that the "USB" adapter for this is 12V, so if you or your family plugs a normal 5V USB device into it - POOF! Maybe even fire. The wattage is reasonable for a 5V adapter, but they chose to use 12V for unknown reasons. You can see it with one of the same company's very nice USB analyzers.

So... Why is this bad?

Because you cannot power and USB-connect to transfer files at the same time. That means you have to run ONLY on battery or their 12V adapter when capturing data, then switch to USB to download. If they had used 5V, 3A USB-C, you could have connected it to your computer and used it all day long (or to a powered hub, because it does need 3A at 5V), as a peripheral, powering and capturing data all day long. They could also have put a separate USB port on it for such a connection, where you used their funky 12V adapter. But no.

Spectrum analyzer mode is strange, with no obvious way to change vertical range nor units. Most digital scopes have "FFT," which this does, but again very limited ability to change ranges/settings.

This stuff (except for AC adapter choice) is just code. There are plenty of good scopes out there to study for ideas... :)

So... Great value, yes. Quirky and sub-optimal at same price-point? Yes.
